A Roadside Brook Wallace Nutting Watercolor Photograph[YJ2-3987] $145.00

A Roadside Brook Wallace Nutting watercolor or hand colored photograph dating from the early 1920s. This print measures 9 1/4 x 3 7/8" and is in good condition with the exception of a few specks of long-dried dry mold in the lower left corner. It is mounted on a mat board which bears the handwritten title and a signature that dates from the early 1920s that is verified as a match of an authorized signature found on www.wallacenuttinglibrary.com. The mat has light wear and also bears a few spots of dry mold, most of which has been carefully brushed away. The mat has also buckled over the years and needs to be flattened under weight. It would be possible to recut the mat to preserve the signature and title and to reframe this beautiful piece of art history, although the original frame and glass are available and will be included in your purchase. This particular photograph/print has a general market value of $185, but due to the flaws has been reduced to the listed price. We will also entertain reasonable offers. This is a lovely piece of Nutting artwork to add to your collection. Born in 1861 in Rockbottom, Massachusetts, Nutting became a Congregational Minister until he retired due to poor health. In 1904 he opened an art prints studio in New York, where he and his employees color tinted his photographs and sold millions of them to an eager public. Wallace Nutting died in Framingham, MA in 1941 at age 79.
