Nicely designed Hobe diamente brooch, entirely prong set. The slim navettes have some darkening near the tips, giving them the appearance of smoky rhinestones. Could be worn as is or you may want to replace those stones. A really dynamic brooch, it is marked Hobe with an accent and a © symbol over the O on an oval plaque on the back. Hobe began manufacturing costume jewelry in 1883 and is still in business. A similar brooch appears in Marcia Brown's Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry, with a book price of $85. This piece has been discounted because of the darkening of the rhinestones.
